Pittsburgh acrylic artist Katie Koenig knew that she wanted to be an artist at the age of five,
when her mother asked her to sign her first self portrait. Today, she looks back at her childhood
memories and uses them as inspiration in her work, painting scenes of Hilton Head and simple
food and objects that she has a nostalgic connection to. Among her favorite subjects to paint is
the humble peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a staple lunch choice of her past and present.
She strives to paint the beauty of the simple pleasures that life has to offer.! !
Katie studied illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design. She is greatly influenced by
modern realist artists including James Neil Hollingsworth and George Ayers. Katie is a member
of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists and the McMurray Art League. She also enjoys doing
commissioned paintings and traveling to outdoor art festivals to exhibit her work.!
