Artie Reitmeyer

ARTIE REITMEYER designs and builds one-of-a-kind and limited production fine furniture for the residential and corporate market. There are three components, he feels, to creating a beautiful piece of furniture: design, process and material selection. Artie’s designs are characterized by historic and contemporary architectural and cultural motifs that have been adapted, modified and reapplied to contemporary furniture designs.
Each piece is hand crafted employing the finest traditional and modern techniques. Great attention is paid to all aspects of the work. Wood selection is an integral part of the design/construction process. Different woods are chosen sometimes for their compatibility other times for their stark contrast. Color, grain and figure are all considered when choosing each board.
Born 1965, in Pittsburgh, PA. Artie Reitmeyer currently lives in Sewickley, PA, where he maintains a studio full time. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a B.F.A. Sculpture/Furniture Design in 1989. He has been an active member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh since 1992.
His work has been exhibited in numerous regional and national crafts exhibitions, invitational show and galleries, and is in the collection of the Heinz Endowments in Pittsburgh.          Website:
