GETTING HERE
Mellon Park is located in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside/Squirrel Hill area along Shady Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Beechwood Blvd. The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and The Phipps Garden Center are adjacent to Mellon Park.
From the East: Take Exit 6 off Pennsylvania Turnpike at Monroeville. Follow I-376 to Pittsburgh. Use Edgewood/Swissvale Exit. Turn right onto Braddock Avenue and left at the second light onto Forbes Avenue. At the third light, turn right onto Shady Avenue. Follow for about 1-1/4 miles to Mellon Park. Enter the park on your right at the sign for the Pittsburgh Civic Garden Center. (If you intersect Fifth Avenue, you just passed it!)
From the North: Follow I-79 to I-279 just south of Wexford. As you approach downtown Pittsburgh, take I-579 south (Veterans Bridge). Follow signs for Monroeville/Parkway East and take I-376 East. Exit at Squirrel Hill and take the first left off the exit ramp. At the first traffic light (a five-way intersection) take the shallow right onto Forward Avenue (between the BP Station and USA Professional Karate). Go to the next light and turn left on Shady Avenue. Follow Shady Avenue for about 1.5 miles to Mellon Park. Enter the park on your right at the sign for the Pittsburgh Civic Garden Center. (If you intersect Fifth Avenue, you just passed it!)
From the West: Follow the Parkway West I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnels and across the Fort Pitt Bridge. Follow signs to Monroeville via I-376 East. Follow exitdirections as above directions from the North.
From the South: Use either Parkway West/I-279 or Parkway East/I-376 and followdirections as above.
